A ceremony was held in Saraphi Sub-district yesterday, presided over by the governor of Lamphun, along the Old Chiang Mai Lamphun Road asking for blessings following a storm on the 2nd October which felled ten yang trees and damaged dozens of houses, affecting 120 families.
According to officials the ten trees which fell were already weak and old, in spite of being cared for by professionals.
In total there are 900 trees which line the road to Lamphun from Chiang Mai.
The ceremony was held, said the governor, to keep up the spirits of the people in the area who are very attached to these trees.
