Budgets set for firefighters and families

Governor of Chiang Mai Charoenrit Sanguansat has announced that the province aims to reduce forest fire hotspots this year by 25%.

The strategy is to work very closely with village-level community groups and district-level offices across the province to properly manage fire fighting efforts.

There is also a budget of 50,000 to compensate families of any firefighters who may die in the line of duty as well as a 100,000 baht budget for any firefighter who incurs injury.

The 50,000 baht budget is for funeral arrangements, and each family of a deceased fire fighter will also receive 30,000 baht in compensation, and a further 50,000 baht should they have children who are under 25 years old. Family of injured fire fighters will also receive 30,000 baht in compensation. There is also a 15,000 baht budget for those with minor injuries.
