Tharit Panpiamrat, senior vice president of the Bank of Thailand’s risk assessment and analysis department had a meeting with Chiang Mai Governor Charoenrit Sanguansat today at the provincial hall to discuss ways to help tourism-related businesses which have been affected by this pandemic.
According to Tharit, a total of 72 legally registered hotels in Chiang Mai have received help so far, mostly with assistance in accessing loans.
There will be more help to come for other businesses affected by the lack of tourism, he said, such as the Tiger Kingdom and the many elephant camps. So far the northern chapter of the Bank of Thailand has already helped negotiate with their lending institutions the temporary halting of their loan and interest repayments, he said,
