CityNews – A man named Steve Areen has built a life and home for himself on a mango farm in Thailand’s Isaan region of Nong Khai, where his idea for a cheap and simple dome home came to life in less than six weeks, with a few more weeks to add the finishing touches. In total, the project cost Steve slightly less than 300,000 baht.

While Steve’s dome does have electricity, it is naturally cooled because of the clever use of cement and clay to build the structure, and naturally lit by skylights in the ceiling of the 46.5 square metre building.

You can see the photos of his home and learn more about his story on his blog and watch a video tour of his home here.
