Woradech Themdee, Head of Saraphi District Organisation, said that the water levels of the Ping River is lower than at Muang Payakam Weir, a very important weird which needs to have enough water levels to support the six districts of Saraphi. Since it is longan season, he says, many farms need to water their orchards. Villagers therefore worked with soldiers to sandbag the banks of the Ping, raising its levels so that water will spill into the Muang Payakam Weir.
