CityNews – ML Panadda Diskul, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, visited Chiang Mai to follow up the resolution report on drought and smog with Northern Royal Rainmaking Center and Lampang Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Area 10 on 28 March.
The report said that at this moment, there is a low possibility for making royal rain because relative humidity is not enough and there is also a significant amount of smog coming in from neighbouring countries, that combined with the high number of hotspots in neighbouring countries, makes rainmaking nearly impossible at this time.
Lampang Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Area 10, however, has spayed water in Chiang Mai Zoo to cool it down for animals, locals, and tourists and to reduce the smog. Animals, especially hippos, have been under great stress and need to cool down in this weather. The water will be sprayed every Sunday until the smog situation improves. Chiang Mai Provincial Public Health informs people to stay in if going out the mask must be used every time.
