Kafe Roubaix

Last week, when taking a short cut down a Nimman soi, I noticed yet another new cafe. Apparently the market for cafes is not quite saturated and so I made a mental note to visit that cafe to see what it could offer that wasn’t already here. :Coffee – A simple blackboard menu of classic coffees and blended drinks, the baristas are as serious about making coffee as they are about cycling meaning drinks are well presented and taste great. Tea, fruit smoothies and sandwiches are also available.Cafe – Kafe Roubaix is made up of three separate areas (or in honour of the cycling theme, I’ll call themstages): an outdoor stage for smoking and keeping warm with your blended drink, the indoor stage for quick coffees and cake on small tables, and the back room stage for work, meetings and day dreams about winning that yellow jersey!
Other – Before even entering Kafe Roubaix it’s obvious it’s a cycling cafe –  but what does the name mean? Roubaix is actually a town in France and is famous for a one day grueling cycling race from Paris to Roubaix. Sometimes called the hell of the North, this prestigious race is every cyclists nightmare as it includes cobbled streets. Kafe Roubaix on the other hand is far from hell and welcoming to everyone not just cyclists. Although at present their customers are mostly Thai this will change once farang find out about the great work desks and hip new cafe on Nimman soi 5.
