CityNews – More than 800 locals joined rehearsals for the annual Water Blessing of Hariphunchai Relic in Lamphun, planned for May 13 – 20.
Tourism Chiang Mai along with a representative of the Welfare Funds for Northern Tourist Guides, Ponglert Lertchaisak, have organised a festival to coincide with the yearly water blessing given to the Hariphunchai relics in Lamphun, followed by tours of a local Lanna village, Baan Nong Nguak in Pa Sang, Lamphun, to see traditional cotton making.
The royally blessed water will arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport on May 13, where it will travel to Lamphun and be prepared to be offered to the ancient relics in the city.
The rehearsals this week were for a Fon Leb dance, a traditional Lanna dance, that currently has over 1,600 dancers registered.
The dance will take place in Lamphun on may 13, followed by cultural shows and tours of local Lanna villages from May 14 – 19. On May 20, the water blessing ceremony will take place.
