Doi Suthep-Pui National Park authorities have just announced that they will, this November, be opening a course to train people from the local community how to responsibly become guides along jungle and forest trails.
As of next month, guides from the ‘Jungle Trek School’ in Nan province will be on hand in Chiang Mai to take groups of up to 20 students to learn how to responsibly navigate a forest. They will learn about how to leave as little of a footprint as possible, how to watch out for dangers, tools for orientation and other necessities.
It is hoped that this will encourage more people to explore the beautiful nature which surrounds Chiang Mai in a safe way as well as offer livelihoods to members of communities which may live in more remote areas.
The first route which the guides will train on is the 10km track along Doi Suthep-Pui from Montanan Waterfall to Doi Pui.
