The Raks Mae Ping Group is holding an AI Contest, “Imagining Chiang Mai in the Era of the Doi Suthep Cable Car.” The contest is open to artists, students, and the general public to showcase their creativity and AI capabilities. The contest was announced by Sakda Darawan of the Raks Mae Ping Group; Asst. Prof. Dr. Paradorn Sureephong, lecturer in Digital Technology Management; Thanaset Klapatmongkol of MAF Excellent Co., Ltd.; and the Fahsai Chiang Mai Group during a press conference at Monsoon Tea Wat Ket, Wat Ket Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District.
The Doi Suthep Cable Car Project is a proposed public transportation initiative for ecotourism in Chiang Mai. It aims to reduce the number of cars traveling to the mountain, minimize pollution, and enhance safe, sustainable tourism while supporting the balanced coexistence of communities and the environment. The project will gather perspectives from a wide range of stakeholders, especially long-term residents living around Doi Suthep.
To promote public participation in assessing the potential impacts of the cable car project, the “Doi Suthep NextGen Design Contest – Dreamscapes of Chiang Mai after the Cable Car to Doi Suthep” invites artists, youth, and the public to use AI to imagine Chiang Mai’s future—its people, natural environment, and emerging ways of life—through creative videos, imagery, and music.
Contest Objectives
– Raise awareness and foster a positive understanding of the “Doi Suthep Next” concept and Chiang Mai’s future after the introduction of the Doi Suthep cable car.
– Promote public participation in the conservation and sustainable development of Chiang Mai through art and AI technology.
– Provide a platform for artists, students, and the general public to demonstrate their design potential and use of AI in creative work.
– Select works that can be used to promote the Doi Suthep Next project through online media, exhibitions, and related activities.

AI Contest Categories
AI Video Generation: Short videos (max 1 minute) created using AI, featuring scenes, animations, or inspirational content.
AI Image Generation: AI-generated still images or graphics reflecting the future nature, culture, and spiritual significance of Doi Suthep.
AI Music Generation: Original songs created using AI, expressing emotions of faith, tranquillity, and inspiration from nature.
Eligibility
Open to students and the general public. Participants may submit entries in more than one category (maximum one entry per person/team per category).
