CityNews – A press conference was held under the theme of Chiang Mai Digital Economy for Smart Tourism which included an announcement for the Northern Digital EXPO 2017.
The conference was held on March 3, at the international building of The Express Chiang Mai Hotel.
The aim of the conference was to highlight the importance of making Chiang Mai a smart city, which will help boost the economy for both entrepreneurs and the tourist industry.
Chiang Mai as a smart city will promote a So-Lo-Mo life (Social, Local, Mobile). Torurists will receive more information in easier to access apps and resources across the city, including maps, hotels, food, tourist destinations etc.
The project will be a collaboration between Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, the Chiang Mai Changer of Commerce, College of Art, Media and Technology, Chiang Mai University and eight other universities in Northern Thailand.
The Northern Digital EXPO will be held on May 5 – 7, at Chiang Mai Central Airport Plaza. The EXPO will host products from entrepreneaurs, a job zone, networking opportunitites, workshops and a mini concert. The EXPO will be the first step to updating Chiang Mai as a smart city, in tune with the government’s 4.0 strategy.
The opening will also include a panel discussion with Mr.Suthin Wichairat – Chiang Mai Provincial office of tourism and sports; Ms. Wipawan Woraputiping – Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce chairperson; Assit. Prof. Nopasit Chakpita, Ph.D. – Dean of Chiang Mai University International College; and Lecturer Pradorn Sureephong, Ph.D. – Deputy of research Administration academic Service & International Relations section, College of Art, Media and Technology, Chiang Mai University.
