NARIT News: On Children’s Day Night, 10 January – “Jupiter at Its Closest to Earth of the Year”
Free Telescope Viewing at NARIT AstroFest 2026

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) (NARIT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), announced that on 10 January 2026, Jupiter will be at its closest approach to Earth of the year. The planet can be observed in the eastern sky shortly after sunset and will shine brightly throughout the night.

NARIT invites the public to observe Jupiter’s cloud bands and its Galilean moons through telescopes at NARIT AstroFest 2026, held in celebration of National Children’s Day at the Sirindhorn Observatory, Chiang Mai, and at the Regional Observatories in Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Chachoengsao, and Songkhla.

Time: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Admission: Free of charge
