Following days of very heavy rains across Chiang Mai, reports are coming in that San Pa Tong District is facing some very fast and flash floods, though to date, the situation is not as bad as last year’s floods, say authorities.

According to San Pa Tong Rescue Service, following the rains in Samoeng over the past few days which have been flowing into the Mae Khan Canal, past Bo Luak Sub-District, numerous households and fields have been flooding up to 1 metre high.

However, water levels are reportedly dropping and are heading into the Ping River. It is believed that the Ping can absorb all of this water without causing any problems downstream.

To date, 285 households in Tung Sa Toke Sub-district has been affected, as well as 2,700 rai of lamyai orchards and 3,000 rai of fields.
