Following the burying of electrical cables over the past two years, the surface of the moat road has been continuously dug up and often haphazardly and temporarily resurfaced. This has been going on since mid-2023, undergone by the Regional Electrical Department at a cost of 3.9 billion baht, and has caused untold accidents for motorists. The Municipality says that often temporary slabs of metal have been used to cover holes and shoddy coverups put in by irresponsible contractors.
The municipality said that it is now repairing 3.1 kilometre of road surfaces along the inner moat, including Sriphum, Arak and Bumrungburi roads, all of which will be completed by November of this year.
As to the works to bury the wires, the municipality says that work has now been completed to over 95% of the project, which means that 23.70 kilometres of roads have had their electric cables buried.
