Migrant Worker Assistance Centre Opened in Chiang Mai

CityNews – A Migrant Worker Assistance Centre has been opened in Chiang Mai, offering help and consultation for migrant workers from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam working in Thailand.

As Chiang Mai is the number one city in Thailand for migrant workers, local authorities agreed to the opening of an Assistance Centre for migrant workers in Chiang Mai as part of the Chiang Mai Employment Office Service Centre (Work Permits) found on the 2nd floor of the Northern Agricultural Centre, Chiang Mai.

Many migrant workers in Chiang Mai have little access in information regarding payment, rights, legal status and human trafficking.

Thailand already has several Migrant Worker Assistance Centres in Samut Prakan, Chon Buri, Ranong, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Tak, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Bangkok.

The Centre sees government departments, foundations and private organisations working together to provide support and information to migrant workers in Thailand.

Migrant Workers Assistance Centre in Chiang Mai is opens now for assist and gives consultation to migrant workers nationality of Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam in Thailand. These include the Chiang Mai Provincial Employment Office, Chiang Mai Labour Protection and Welfare Office, Chiang Mai Social Security Office, Chaing Mai Skill Development Center, The Industrial Rehabilitation Northern Centre, Chiangmai Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, Chiang Mai Immigration Office, Chiangmai Provincial Public Health Office, DSD Wellness Academy, MAP Foundation for the Health and Knowledge of Ethnic Labour, Human Rights and Development Foundation, Worker Solidarity Association and Migrant Workers Federation.
