Maxim Thailand, a leading ride-hailing application, has officially launched the country’s first “Horse Carriage Service” in Lampang Province. The service provides a one-of-a-kind travel experience that blends the charm of traditional Lanna culture with modern technology. It allows tourists to enjoy safe, convenient, and comfortable journeys while creating income opportunities for local carriage drivers, supporting community businesses, and promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
The launch event was held at Lampang Museum with more than 50 participants, in collaboration with government agencies and local organizations, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Lampang Provincial Cultural Office, Lampang Horse Carriage Association, and the President of the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce Thailand (YEC), who helped disseminate information to the community.
Ms. Yureepan Saenjaiya, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Lampang, said:
“We would like to thank Maxim for choosing Lampang as the starting point and for connecting with all sectors of the province. Lampang is the only province in Thailand where horse carriages are still in operation, and this is the first time they will be available through the Maxim app. This is an innovative step in tourism, leveraging online platforms. With Maxim, visitors can book a ride immediately after landing and collecting their luggage, with clear pricing. I see this as a great opportunity to offer another convenient transportation option for tourists.”
The parade starts from Lampang Museum, passing through Thip Chang Road, the city’s main street, and continues past Orange Bridge near the Lampang Clock Tower and Wat Sri Rong Mueang, a beautiful Burmese-style temple. It then passes Baan Phra Ya Surentharacha Sena, a historic house, and Lampang Railway Station, before moving along Prasan Maitri Road and Don Pan Intersection, a lively part of the city.
The parade continues past Big C, Wiang Thong Intersection, Phen Sap Intersection, Five-way Clock Tower Intersection, and Bunwat Road, before returning to Lampang Museum to complete the route. Participants get to experience the history, culture, and unique atmosphere of Lampang city in a comprehensive way.
Maxim’s horse carriage service enables users to book rides directly through the app by selecting the “Horse Carriage” category for trips within the city and to major tourist and cultural sites in Mueang District, Lampang. The service is designed to let both tourists and local residents experience traditional lifestyles in a safe, convenient, and modern way. Additionally, drivers do not pay any commission on rides, helping them maximize their income while supporting the local economy and contributing to sustainable tourism.
Mr. Phongpath Aksarawornkarn, Managing Director of Maxim Thailand, said:
“We are delighted to host this event. We are committed to preserving cultural heritage in all provinces where we operate. Today, with Lampang’s horse carriages, we have integrated technology to enhance the service for drivers and provide tourists with an authentic cultural experience. We believe that travel is not just about reaching a destination, but also enjoying the beauty and experience along the way. We hope this collaboration with relevant agencies will serve as a model for modernizing local public transportation in other provinces while preserving community identity and supporting sustainable tourism development.”
Ms. Rattana Santakit, Director of Special Affairs, Lampang Provincial Cultural Office, said:
“We sincerely thank the private sector for prioritizing tourism and choosing Lampang as a model for promotion. Our office plays a key role in integrating efforts and is happy to collaborate with all sectors. Today, on behalf of our office, I invite tourists and residents of Lampang to try the Maxim app to book a horse carriage and enjoy traditional travel experiences combined with modern convenience.”
The horse carriage service is now available on the Maxim app, offering a unique travel experience while supporting local employment. New users can enjoy a welcome discount of up to THB 200 and enter additional promo codes for maximum savings. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience authentic Lanna travel.
