Continuous rainfall on 31st August and 1st September caused rivers to overflow in Mae Chaem district, flooding agricultural land in Chang Khoeng and Tha Pha sub-districts and damaging a riverside road, according to the district’s disaster prevention office.
In Chang Khoeng, farmland was affected across eight villages, including Ban To Ruea, Ban Ton Tan-Nang Lae and Ban Huai Rin. A laterite road used for agriculture in Ban Thong Fai village was badly damaged and is now unusable. In Tha Pha, farmland in four villages was also affected, with infrastructure damage still being assessed.
District chief Kriangsak Boontapuan has ordered officials, village heads and local administrative bodies to survey the damage urgently and assist affected residents. The disaster office is monitoring weather conditions closely and continuing to issue alerts.
Water levels in the Mae Chaem river have since fallen steadily as rain in upstream areas has stopped, though officials remain on alert for further heavy rainfall.
