On 15th February 2026, officers from the Integrated Conservation Area Unit of Ob Khan National Park were notified by local residents of smoke rising from forest land in Huai Tha Kham forest, Ban Mai Pang Term, Moo 1, Ban Kat subdistrict, Mae Wang district. The affected area is dry dipterocarp forest located within the national park boundary.
Officials were immediately deployed to investigate and confirmed an active forest fire at around 6pm. Fire suppression operations began at approximately 7pm, and the blaze was successfully brought under control and fully extinguished by 10.40pm.
A total of 35 rai of forest was damaged. Authorities confirmed that the situation is now under control, with no further spread of the fire.
Authorities stated they will increase patrols and monitoring measures to prevent further incidents and to protect natural resources.
