Last night, flash floods from the Mae Sa River suddenly inundated Ban Huai Cho in Mae Rim District, affecting over 93 households. Most of the damage occurred because there was not enough time to move belongings.
Suwaphak Thinrat, the village headman of Ban Huai Cho, explained that heavy rainfall occurred on the high mountain above the village in Pong Yaeng Subdistrict. Within two hours, the Mae Sa River’s water level rose rapidly and overflowed, flooding homes. The entire village remained flooded for about three hours before the water gradually receded around midnight.
This morning, some houses in low-lying areas were still flooded. Mae Rim Subdistrict Municipality will deploy to pump water out of homes as quickly as possible. Officials will also survey the damage and provide assistance.
