Empty night streets of Chiang Mai

CityNews – 20th March 2020, last night was the first night of the official closure of pubs, bars and many entertainment venues and so we thought it would be interesting to take to the streets and see what’s going on.

Well…not much.

As you can see, the city is slowly shutting down. Street vendors, tuk tuk and songtaew drivers, food cart sellers and so many people are beginning to suffer.

We wish you all safe and well.

These photos were taken between 9.30-10.30 pm.

The food trucks and vendors are still out
Hmmm….how are they still open
Warm Up shut up
Lets hope they have home delivery
Am shocked its still open! But obviously not to any business! This was around 10.15 last night
Tha Pae Road around 9.30pm
One or two tourists lurking around
No ladies waving at passersby along Loi Kroh
This tuk tuk driver says he is lucky to get one or two customers a day now
Loi Kroh still had a few restaurants and shops open
A batallion of tuk tuk and songtaews waiting to charge…
Definitely not enough customers to go around at the Night Bazaar
Vendors say they may not even bother anymore
Food court by Panthip Plaza also empty, including the beer garden area
Muay Thai area closed
There were a few tourists walking down the middle of the road just before this shot drinking Leos
Interesting…found this party central pub here filled with younger tourists belting out Bohemian Rhapsody
Don’t think you need any boucers there mate
Lets hope they have home delivery
Am shocked its still open! But obviously not to any business! This was around 10.15 last night
