Atapon Charoenchansa, Director General of Pollution Control Department has responded to a Facebook post by a researcher claiming that Rapsadet Waterfall, near Doi Suthep Temple, was revealed to have E. Coli bacteria in the water, believed to have come from human waste.
Rapsadet waterfall is a popular spot for tourists as well as locals, and Atapon said that he has now ordered a team to investigate the truth of the matter.
According to the researcher, a test found faecal Coliform bacteria in the waters. They are now conducting tests all along the various waterfalls of the Doi Suthep mountain to see if other falls are also of danger. This test will take seven days and an announcement will be made when results are out.
