Doorless Art Okinawa has signed an MOU with Healing Art Center in Chiang Mai, to pioneer a New Cross-border art and healing platform between Thailand and Japan.

Doorless Art Okinawa, based in the southern islands of Japan hopes that this partnership will mark the beginning of an inspiring collaboration aimed at integrating art-based healing, fostering cross-cultural exchange, and creating a new platform for creativity

between Okinawa and Chiang Mai.

“Additionally, Doorless Art Okinawa is the only platform in Okinawa dedicated to supporting artists with disabilities,” Mariya Goya of Doorless Art Okinawa told Citylife.

“With the concept of “Discover, Share, and Connect”, we aim to leverage Okinawa’s unique geographical position to expand our activities not only within the prefecture but also internationally. We see this agreement as an important first step, and we hope that by sharing the details, residents of Chiang Mai will also take a greater interest in Healing Art Center’s initiatives.”

Through this MOU, the two organisations will co-host workshops and organise art-based healing experiences designed to bring peace, creativity and connection to diverse participants in both cities.

As Japan’s first initiative of this kind, this collaboration creates a bridge between Japan and Thailand, opening new opportunities for artistic exchange, wellness-focused projects, and cultural understanding.

“From a small island in the south of Japan, I am deeply honored to establish this partnership in Chiang Mai as the start of a new platform. Being the first Japanese organisation to embark on this journey makes this milestone even more meaningful.

Through this agreement, we hope to promote various projects that encourage collaboration, artistic exchange, and creative development between both communities.
