The president of the Thai Hotels Association Northern Chapter stated that tourism in Chiang Mai is improving, with hotel room reservations increasing by 70 percent. This includes both 4–5-star and 3-star hotels, with most bookings coming from foreign tourists.

He further mentioned that tourism in the North and in Chiang Mai province remains satisfactory this month. Looking ahead to the period between October and December, foreign tour bookings appear strong. From October 1 to 10, over 80 percent of 4- and 5-star hotel rooms have already been booked by Chinese tourists, while bookings for 3-star hotels are also at 70 to 80 percent. In addition to Chinese travelers, there is growing interest from European and South American tourists, especially the number of Brazilian visitors is increasing, with many choosing to visit Chiang Mai, particularly for its cultural and natural attractions.

Today (September 26, 2025), at the Bank of Thailand’s Northern Region Office, Thai and South Korean business and government agencies held a joint event to realign the economy and strengthen tourism infrastructure. The event focused on the Free Independent Traveler (FIT) market, particularly targeting Korean and other international tourists. This collaboration aims to support Chiang Mai’s sustainable growth, including the introduction of new technologies to enhance the city’s tourism infrastructure and better prepare it for global tourism demand.
