Chiang Mai’s cheerleading community came together recently for CHIANG MAI CHEER 2026, a provincial competition held to select athletes who will represent Chiang Mai at upcoming national sporting events.
Organised by the Cheerleading Division of the Chiang Mai Sports Association, the competition took place at The Pantip Lifestyle Hub Chiang Mai, with Assistant Professor Chaiporn Kaewwiwat, Secretary-General of the Chiang Mai Sports Association, presiding over the opening ceremony.
The event brought together 86 athletes from 12 clubs, institutions and studios across Chiang Mai, competing in eight categories across a total of 39 events, covering both youth and open divisions.
The competition aimed to select two teams from each category to represent Chiang Mai at the 42nd National Youth Games, “Surin Games,” as well as the 50th Thailand National Games, “Udon Thani Games.”
Beyond selecting provincial representatives, CHIANG MAI CHEER 2026 also served as an important platform for developing the skills and potential of Chiang Mai’s cheer athletes, with the long-term goal of raising standards to national and eventually international levels.
Supported by the Cheer Association of Thailand and the Chiang Mai Sports Association, the event highlighted the continued growth of cheerleading as a competitive sport in the province.
Throughout the competition, athletes demonstrated not only technical ability, but also discipline, commitment, consistent training and teamwork. Each performance reflected the dedication and passion required in the sport, making the event as much a celebration of the athletes’ development as it was a competition for victory.
CHIANG MAI CHEER 2026 marks another important step for Chiang Mai’s cheerleading community, offering young athletes valuable competition experience and an opportunity to showcase their abilities before progressing to the national stage.
Chiang Mai now sends its best wishes to the provincial cheer teams as they prepare to compete at both the National Youth Games and the Thailand National Games — with hopes of bringing home as many victories and medals as possible.
