Residents on Chang Klan Road prepared sandbags after the Ping River continued to rise since last night. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) also issued a warning via cell broadcast, advising residents in high-risk areas to prepare for possible flooding.

At the Ping River water level monitoring point P1 (Nawarat Bridge), the water level had reached 3.50 meters as of 12 p.m. Although levels have risen, they are expected to stabilize. Chiang Mai Governor Thotsapol Phueanudom confirmed that the city is not expected to flood today. The highest level forecast is around 3.70 meters, which remains below the critical overflow threshold of 4.20 meters.

Mayor Assanee Buranupakorn stated that the municipality has implemented flood prevention plans for residential and commercial areas. Measures include sandbags, and officials are stationed at pumping stations, ready to remove water in case of further flooding or rainfall immediately. Teams are also clearing debris caught on bridge piers, which could obstruct water flow.

This afternoon, the Ping River level remains stable. However, close monitoring will continue due to heavy rainfall expected from the monsoon trough between September 25 and 28. Low-lying communities and residents within the municipality are advised to stay updated through official announcements. Chiang Mai Municipality has prepared sandbags and is ready to distribute residents if water levels approach the 4.20-meter overflow point.
