Wing 41 of the Royal Thai Air Force has sent personnel and equipment to Bangkok to help people affected by flooding in the capital and surrounding provinces.
Group Captain Theerayut Kueasakul, the Wing 41 commander and director of its disaster relief centre, gave the order on Monday (Sept 28). A C-130 transport carrying the team took off from the Wing 41 military airport in Chiang Mai and headed for Wing 6 in Bangkok.
Once on the ground, the personnel will split up and work with local agencies, with the stated aim of getting help to residents as fast as possible. The relief centre back in Chiang Mai is keeping watch on the situation around the clock.
The wing says it is following air force policy to stand with the public until things return to normal, though no timeline was given for when that might be.
