Calling for Support! Bengali Humanitarian Relief Group

CityNews – In response to the plight of an estimated 430,000 civilians, mostly children, who recently moved from Myanmar to refugee camps in Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh and who are in desperate need of humanitarian relief, a Bengali Humanitarian Relief Group has been set up with the support of some members of the diplomatic community in Chiang Mai.

The purpose of this strictly apolitical humanitarian group is to raise emergency relief funds and to provide essential humanitarian support to new arrivals crossing the Myanmar-Bangladesh border particularly children in this continuing desperate crisis.

This tragedy is happening on our doorstep, just 600 kms away, closer to us than Bangkok as the crow flies; it is too close to ignore.

If you are interested in helping this humanitarian mission please contact Ben Svasti, Appeal Secretary at [email protected] or see further details at: www.facebook.com/bengalirelief

There will also be a fundraising event at Tha Pae East on 27th September. We will post further details as we know them.
