British Coronation Celebration at The Consul’s Garden

On 6 May 2023 there will be a ‘Garden Party’ at the Consul’s Garden from 11am until 6pmto celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

It’s a festival of great food, music & fun for the whole family … not just for British & Commonwealth expats, but for people from everywhere … especially Chiang Mai locals. There will be something for everyone.

CORONATION PROCESSION (9am)
The Coronation Procession starts atThapae Gate, led by the British Ambassador H.E. Mr. Mark Gooding.The vehicles will proceed around the walls of Chiang Mai City, and then on to The Consul’s Garden and the river. Participants include: Classic Cars of Lanna, Mini Club Chiang Mai, Triumph Rider’s Club, and Royal Enfield Rider’s Club.

AT THE MAIN EVENT (11am – 6pm)
FOOD: we have a compelling range of quality food and drink on offer. See attached list of participating food vendors. Chang will also be providing liquid refreshments.

ACTIVITIES: There will be lots of fun activities for children … some based on traditional British games others involving skill building workshops organized by local international schools. Fun cutouts of British icons for children to take photos.There will also be free guided Kayak trips for kids and their parents on the river Ping. See attached list of Sports &Activities planned for the day.

ENTERTAINMENT: We have sourced great music and dance from all around the world: Scottish bagpipes, Australian didgeridoo, Celtic folk music, Bollywood dancers, Blues from Burma, and colorful cabaret and song acts from Suman and Gate Theatre.

EXHIBITION: depicting the close historical ties between the monarchies of the Thailand and the UK, and about the first British explorers to reach Chiang Mai.

RAFFLE DRAW AT 4PM: Winners must be in attendance to claim their prizes. Many local businesses – both big and small – have generously donated OVER 300,000 BAHT WORTH OF PRIZES. See attached list of prizes.

Ticket price is 100 baht per person, but for children 12 years and under, it’s free. Tickets can be purchased up until April 30, for only 80 baht per person:

Each ticket will entitle you to one free raffle ticket. Extra tickets can be purchased for 100 baht each.

All proceeds go the following charities: Foundation Of Child Understanding (FOCUS) and Mother Child Concern Foundation (MCC). FOCUS works to prevent abuse of children and women, and to combat child sex trafficking in Northern Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. MCC in partnership with Thai Myanmar Friendship Group delivers humanitarian aid to displaced children fleeing from civil strife on Thailand’s northern borders, and within Myanmar.
