CityNews – AWN, a subsidiary company of AIS has officially received its 900MHz license from the NBTC, after settling the first payment on 28 June 2016. This ensures that the company is now ready to bring such frequency into enhanced development of digital infrastructure to encourage the Thais to completely take part on the stage of Thailand 4.0.
Mr. Somchai Lertsutiwong, CEO of Advanced Info Services Plc., as Acting Managing Director of Advanced Wireless Network Co., Ltd. (AWN) together with other management are the representatives to receive such license of 900MHz Band (895 – 905 MHz / 940 – 950 MHz). which has the total value of 75,654 million baht. The representatives has brought in the first payment of 8,602.8 million baht (including VAT) with bank guarantee 72,346.98 million baht (including VAT) to The Office of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission as national revenue on 28 June 2016.
Mr. Somchai said “With the 900 MHz radio frequency, it strengthens the AIS wireless network with 3G and 4G technology, particularly, network quality in usage of customers. This also helps strengthening the digital structure of Thailand, incorporated to affiliate growth policy with Ecosystem. This will enable the industry to develop new digital services like water management or effective rural communication system.”
“I am grateful for the government to allow us to develop the 900MHz frequency for sake of national use. Apart from the investment in the largest digital network for the encouragement in digital structure, useful for the public communication, it is another approach to give returns to the State, resulting to continuity of investment and stimulating employment regarding the national development dramatically.”
Mr. Somchai emphasized “With our capability and strong will, I can ensure the service to the customers will be a total completeness from now on, and with reasonable investment according to exponentially expanding popularity in digital service among Thai people. It encourages the better life through the use of high technology for the people and digital economy for the next step to Thailand 4.0 according to the intention definitely.
