On 12th August 2025, at Wat Pa Dara Phirom Phra Aram Luang in Mae Rim, Phra Kru Aod of Wat Chedi Luang, a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and Administration at Mahamakut Buddhist University, Lanna Campus, presided over the Free the Life of Cattle and Buffaloes ceremony. The event was held to extend the lives of five cows and 26 buffaloes and to offer royal merit in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday anniversary and National Mother’s Day 2025.
All 31 animals will be handed over to the Police and Teacher Career Promotion Foundation and members of the Boon Thai Cheevit group in Phrae Province and they will be well cared for throughout their lives.
The village headman from the area where the cattle and buffaloes were received stated that community members have already taken in over 700 animals through the Cattle and Buffalo Bank for Farmers. This project supports farmers in earning a living by raising cattle and has also improved mental well-being among farmers by reducing stress and depression. A communication group has been created through a mobile application to monitor the animals’ health and provide immediate assistance if any illnesses arise. In addition, the community is considering the establishment of a bank for grass seeds and straw reserves to ensure a food supply for the animals during times of shortage.
