With direct flights now arriving from China, just in time for the Chinese New Year, Chiang Mai is gearing up for a cash injection over the coming weeks.
Panlop Saejiew, President of the Tourism Industry Council Chiang Mai has announced that the first direct flight to Chang Mai has arrived from Shanghai today. He expects 15 direct flights to our city this week, with around 200 passengers per flight. The estimate is that each tourist will spend around 20,000 baht per day, injecting around 30 million baht into the local economy this week.
He went on to say that within three to six months he expects the numbers of tourism to reach pre pandemic levels when Chiang Mai Province was taking in around 60 billion baht per year in tourism revenue.
