Recently, one more suspect, identified as Mong, was arrested at the Mae Tha checkpoint in Lamphun while attempting to flee to Bangkok. He was taken into custody at Provincial Police Region 5 along with 14 other suspects. All of them were Myanmar nationals, mostly teenagers aged between 17 and 30 years old. Authorities also recovered weapons used in the crime.
During the press conference, Mong confessed that he felt guilty for his actions and admitted he did not realize the victim was a woman. He expressed regret and accepted full responsibility. He said the assault was motivated by a desire for revenge, as one of his group members had been attacked earlier. However, it turned out that they targeted the wrong group. After the incident, Mong had planned to flee and find work in Bangkok.
Regarding legal proceedings, authorities stated that there will be severe punishment for those involved in the joint crime. Additionally, officers will be ordered to monitor youth gatherings, particularly at night, to prevent further disturbances.
