CityNews – Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Chiang Mai City continued the 2nd phase of Chiang Mai MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions) City Roadmap and hosted a conference on 26th – 28th September at The International Convention and Exhibition Centre to educate and build needed skills for entrepreneurs and related departments.

Nopparat Methavikunlachai, the director of TCEB, said that to be a MICE city, Chiang Mai needed help from every sector. When the government made 2013 the Year of MICE, Chiang Mai later had a MICE Summit Conference to determine the plan to develop Chiang Mai as a MICE centre within five years.

The plan was divided into three phases. The 1st phase (2013) aims to implement the project and educate people about MICE.

The 2nd one (2014 – 2015) will boost regional marketing in the Great Mekong Subregion (GMS) and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

The last phase (2016 – 2017) will make Chiang Mai an international conference destination.
