CityNews – Hospitals in Bangkok, as well as Chiang Mai Ram and Lanna Hospital, are using more advanced technology to make hospital treatment faster and more efficient.

A recent news article from The Nation revealed that hospitals are now starting to use innovative technology to provide their patients with the best service. An example of this new technology is the guide card, which uses optical character recognition (OCR), similar to commercial barcodes. Staff and doctors use barcode scanners on the card throughout treatment to ensure the correct identification, records, files, and medication is assigned to the correct patient.

Other examples include the use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems to collect patients’ data in digital form, and a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in which electronic images and reports are transmitted digitally. Dell Corporation Thailand provides a data centre, servers, storage, and data discovery systems for the hospitals.

“Such advanced technologies are aimed at improving the quality of patients’ treatment, reducing errors and time, and increasing accuracy,” Dr. Siripong Luengvarinkul, deputy managing director of Ramkhamhaeng Hospital in Bangkok, told the Nation.
