Chiang Mai’s Kalayaniwattana district has the distinction of being the only district in the province which has, to date, no cases of any Covid-19.
This district of 12,000 which sits on the border of Mae Hong Son near Pai, is comprised of mainly Karen people who have been very diligent in taking precautions since the beginning of the pandemic, said a spokesman of the district.
According to the spokesman, the local hospital has been taking charge from the start, communicating with all communities and working closely with community leaders.
All 23 villages in the area have told their relatives, during each wave of the pandemic, to avoid returning home, keeping the area covid-free.
