Mix Restaurant & Bar

Mix is an apt name for this restaurant and bar which refuses to be pigeonholed. Sitting in a hidden little garden off Nimmanhaemin, Mix offers plenty of outdoor seating in their eclectic and artsy patio. Or, for a cooler experience, step into their trendy air-conditioned interior. Be warned, the menu will boggle your mind…it is a vast tome with (thankfully) pictures and descriptions of a kaleidoscopic array of food; mixed, fused, blended, twisted and recreated from cuisines around the world. Traditional dishes are served up with intriguing new ingredients and unrecognisable dishes are created by combining crowd favourites, all presented as thoughtfully as if they were about to be painted onto a canvas. Mix’s menu is fun, vibrant, creative and most importantly, delicious. Its cocktail menu is also unsurpassed in Chiang Mai, with all sorts of funky and high-powered concoctions available, from the traditional to the surprising, with some looking as though they have been delivered from another planet by spaceship! Go for a night out with mates, drinking wine and sampling starters, enjoy a family meal where children can run wild, or sit under a bamboo grove and feed succulent bites to your special someone.

Open daily, 11 a.m. _ 2 p.m., 5 p.m. _ midnight

Tex Mex Café

Sometimes you get a craving that only a big pile of hearty corn chips topped with cheese, refried beans, salsa, sour cream and jalapeno peppers can satisfy. In Chiang Mai, such a dish can be hard to find, which is why it’s time to rejoice _ Tex Mex Café has arrived, located inside Chiang Mai 89 Plaza on Chiang Mai-Lamphun Road. Offering a full array of authentic Mexican and Texas-style essentials for lunch and dinner, from tacos to enchiladas to quesadillas to burritos to everything in between, this chilled-out new eatery refuses to disappoint. They also offer an extensive kids’ menu, as well as a variety of burgers, hot subs, sloppy joes, salads, chilli, steak and spaghetti. Prices are reasonable for large portions of Western food, with enchiladas starting at 65 baht and burritos at 130, and come stuffed with meat, veggies, and real cheese. Food sets are also available for the hungriest customers, starting at 160 baht and served with beans and rice. Tex Mex Café is the perfect place for a quick bite or a large group gathering. Grab some friends and enjoy a night of margaritas (hooray!) and good eatin’. The café also offers take away, delivery and catering for special events, along with free wifi for dine-in guests.
