Café de Oasis

Thailand’s renowned spa chain, Oasis, boasting nine locations and counting, has now expanded their  golden touch to a new venture: a fabulous new café with a decidedly spa-like atmosphere. Located on the cross street just before the massive new convention centre off Canal Road, this is a great new addition to a developing area of the city, perfect for a quick stop on your way to work or a leisurely afternoon.

Enter through an ivy-covered gate into a secret garden featuring a thatched roof gazebo, large wooden deck, trickling fountain and plenty of shady greenery. The spacious outdoor seating is complemented by an indoor open-air section and a glassed-in, air-conditioned space that smells nothing short of delicious (a signature blend of essential oils that will immediately bring your stress level down a few points), and feels much like a stylish artist’s zenned-out living room. Décor is quirky vintage chic with a Moroccan flair, and the signature Oasis Spa tranquillity has definitely been retained.

Settle in and sip a variety of delicious coffee drinks, teas by the pot, healthy fresh juices and yummy baked goods. The homemade scones (baked fresh each morning) served with fresh cream and homemade strawberry jam will set you back just 65 baht for the set, or add coffee for 120 baht. The café also offers fabulous cheesecake, brownies, and an assortment of light breakfast and Thai food items, including scrambled eggs, yoghurt with muesli, and pad see ew. There’s even free wifi, which means this little piece of Eden doubles as a fabulous indoor/outdoor work environment.

Open daily, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Closed Mondays)

Wichai Wittaya Bilingual School

Established in 1996, Wichai Wittaya Biligual School (WWBS) is the first bilingual school in Northern Thailand that now serves more than 700 students from kindergarten to grade 12. WWBS combines both Thai and international education with a broad basis of knowledge and more than 16 years of experience. The classrooms are comfortable, air-conditioned and equipped with all the latest technology, including interactive smart boards, cinema style seating and giant screens. At WWBS, parents can rest assured that their children will get plenty of attention and a top quality education. Students are limited in to 25 students per three teachers for a kindergarten classroom and 30 students per two teachers for primary and secondary classrooms. If you feel that your children’s English is not up to par, WWBS offers English courses for newly enrolled students as well as summer courses for kindergarten and primary section students and preparatory courses for entrance to universities. WWBS proudly holds a 100 percent success rate of passing Grade 12 students into higher education.  Does your child show special talent in a particular area? WWBS aims to make that talent blossom by assigning a course tutor to help develop the student’s skills.

Health and safety is never a concern at WWBS thanks to their commitment to constant supervision by school staff during school hours and a dedicated on-site nurse in case of emergencies. All students are also covered by accident insurance so they can learn and play with no worries.
