Poy Sang Long festivities at Wat Gu Tao

March 23

First night of Poy Sang Long festivities at Wat Gu Tao.  Poy Sang Long is a multi-day celebration of ethnic Shan boys being ordained as novices into the monk hood. This involves the boys being paraded around on the shoulders of their elders, first night wearing white robes then next couple of nights being adorned in colorful costumes and headdresses often called ‘little princes’. Wat Gu Tao is located behind the Municipal Stadium – The main gate to Wat Gu Tao is located at the very east end of Soi 6, Chang Phuak (Soi 6 is the second Soi north of the Chang Phuak bus station).
