January 12th, 2017, Social Development and Human Security Minister Police General Adul Saengsingkaew presided over the opening of ‘Tam Roi Por Bon Doi Soong’ or ‘Following Father’s Footsteps in the Mountains’ exhibition at the newly reopened The Tribal Museum and education centre at Suan Luang Lanna Rama IX in Chiang Mai. The event was held at the museum between January 11st – 13th, and features many exhibits showcasing how His Majesty improved tribal lives alongside its permanent exhibits featuring the many rich cultural and historical details of many tribes.
Pol. Gen. Adul said at the opening of the exhibition, “the ministry looks out for the welfare of 1,414,135 people from 10 tribes in 20 provinces including Karen, Akha, Lua, Hmong, Khmu and etc.” According to the ministry’s Agenda Based policy, said the general, the ministry will spend 2017 finding land, housing, jobs and opportunities for many of these people.
“The museum is a centre dedicated to the royalty and all that He did for our tribal people as well as being a centre for knowledge founded by and dedicated to tribes people. All residents and tourists can visit for free,” said the general.
