CityNews – A fire that destroyed over 10 rai of forest land in Huay Tung Tao was believed to be caused by hunters setting a fire to scare wildlife into their traps.
In the afternoon of 21st March, a large fire was discovered at Huay Tung Tao Reservoir, Mae Rim. Authorities rushed to the fire and spent two hours extinguishing it. Over 10 rai of forest ground was burned to ashes.
Authorities beleive the fire was started by hunters who were trying to catch wildlife. The fires were started in multiple areas however by the time authorities had arrived the culprits had vanished. Police are investigating the evidence in a bid to identify the suspects.
