CityNews – The Provincial Energy Office of Chiang Mai held talks to educated farmers in Mae Chaem, on how to produce bio-energy (bio char) from cornstalks, instead of burning them, which will hopefully be a big help in reducing the annual smog.

On February 1st, 2017 at Baan Na Hong, Mae Chaem, the chief of The Provincial Energy Department, Chiang Mai, Thiradet Jarasriwisit, opened the workshop to demonstrate to farmers how to gain bio-energy while helping to reduce pollution.thumbnail_แก้ปัญหาหมอกควัน (1)

Mae Chaem is a main area which produces huge amounts of smog each year from maize husk burning and this new initiative hopes to help combat this.
