CityNews – Authorities arrested Jao-oy Sae-Yang, 22, in Arunotai Village, Chiang Dao District on 8th September, for attempting to bribe a government official into fast tracking his Thai citizenship application.
The Chiang Dao police say that while Jao-oy had followed all legal processes in becoming a Thai citizen such as filling his application form correctly, doing his DNA test, passing his background check and all, it was discovered that he had paid an official 10,000 baht in order to speed up the process.
Once this was discovered, the police went back to look at his application and discovered that his information was false and that the official who accepted the bribe was complicit. He has been arrested and there is a warrant out for the arrest of the official.
