Flash Flood Warnings

CityNews – The continuous rain on the weekend, from August 26th to 27th, has caused floods and mudslide in many suburb areas including Mae Rim, San Patong, Doi Lo, Mae Taeng and Samoeng.

On August 26th, there were reports that there were floods in some areas including Moo 4 and 5 Nam Bo Luang, San Pa Tong and Moo 7 Ban Mae Aow, Doi Lo. The heavy rain on the same day had also caused mudslides in Pa Pae, Mae Taeng and Mae Sap, Samoeng.

It was reported later on August 27th that about thirty households in Ban Kat Hao, Mae Rim has suffered from the flooding from the overflow from the Mae Rim stream causing villagers to flee their homes to higher land. Mae Rim Chief District officer has authorised twenty officers to assist the evacuation and survey the area for future threats. They have also warned citizens to take caution in case of flash floods.

According to the Thai Meteorological Department, the cause of the rain is the tropical storm Pakhar in the Northern South China Sea which is moving towards the Northern part of Vietnam.
