Centres and Hotlines Set up for Nepal Earthquake Donations

CityNews – Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization has opened a centre to collect donations for victims of the Nepal earthquake.

People are invited to donate money, clothing and non-perishable food at the centre on Chotana Road, Muang Chiang Mai’s Changpuek sub-district.

Money can also be donated via Krungthai Bank, Chiang Mai Government Service Center Branch via money transfer at account number 983-2-84443-6 or via phone at 053 998 333 ext. 117; at the Chiang Mai City Hall’s Damrongtham Center by calling 053 112 592; or by money transfer to Krungthai Bank, Chiang Mai Government Service Center Branch, account number 983-2-81789-7.

All funds will be donated to the Embassy of Nepal.

However, Police General Somyot Pumpanmuang of Royal Thai Police, has warned the public to be aware of fake bank accounts that claim to collect funds for earthquake victims. A number of fake accounts have been identified. Those who suspect a fake account should report it to the Royal Thai Police by calling the hotline at 1599.

Somyot went on to suggest those wishing to donate do so through government or vetted organizations.
