The Way of “Shu-Ha-Ri” Exhibition

Baan Tuek Art Center invites you to this special calligraphy exhibition by Tenkou Hirata from Japan, who first visited Chiang Mai in 2013 and developed a love for both the place and its people. The exhibition is motivated by his desire to contribute in some way to Chiang Mai, and to express his genuine love of the city. Open 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. daily.

Photographer Marisa Marchitelli’s exhibition features images from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, on her assignment for the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia working and travelling with their senior advisor Jeff Erlich. The exhibition is open nightly from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Makha Bucha Week 

8th – 14th February

Makha Bucha Day is one of the most important holy days in Buddhism. It began on a full moon when 1,250 enlightened followers received directly from Buddha the “Ovadhapatimokha” principles of Buddhism: to cease from all evil, to do what is good, and to cleanse one’s mind. This year, Chiang Mai will host “Makha Bucha Week” from 8th to 14th February inviting Buddhists to make merit and join the religious activities at the temples. Alcohol is not allowed to be sold on Makha Bucha Day, which is on 14th February this year.

Chiang Mai Halal International Fair 2014

The fair will be held in order to educate people about halal products, open new markets for SMEs in the north of Thailand, as well as allow people to gain knowledge about the concept of halal. There will be around 200 product booths from Thai Muslims, other Muslims around Thailand and other ASEAN countries. There will also be cultural shows, and plenty of other entertainment.

Chiang Mai Flower Festival

The 38th Chiang Mai Flower Festival will turn the park into an open-air exhibition venue where you can enjoy the beauty of flowers. The festival’s highlight is the parade of elaborately-decorated floral floats at the opening ceremony, to be held on 8th February. The procession starts from Nawarat Bridge and going along Tha Pae Road, Kotchasarn Road and Changlor Road, before turning into Arak Road and finish at Suan Buak Haad.
