For we locals, Akyra promises to be THE new venue to hang out in Nimman. The Italics Italian restaurant, seating up to 60 both indoors and on a large deck, will serve traditional Italian fare with mostly-locally sourced produce and comes with its own brick pizza oven, “we are going to serve the best pizzas in Chiang Mai,” beamed Restaurant Manager Cyrielle Merveille. Then there is the super sexy Rise Bar on the rooftop with sweeping views of Doi Suthep and the city-scape decked out in scrumptious lounge chairs and flanked by a first-for-Chiang Mai see-through rooftop swimming pool – bikini bottoms with your martini, anyone?

The hotel’s state of the art meeting room will also be used as an art gallery with quarterly rotations of both local and international artists. “Our first exhibition is going to be very exciting,” said Merveille. “It is by famous British photographer, Andy Gotts,” best known for his Degrees, a collection of 300 black and white portraits of Hollywood celebrities and figures in the public eye.

“I think that you will love it.”

The hotel aims to be open at the beginning of July.
