The fourth of July was celebrated with Western style and Eastern elegance at the River Market Restaurant in Chiang Mai. The American Independence Day celebration drew a crowd of about 300. Good food, entertainment and about 90 raffle prizes kept the celebrants busy throughout the day.
The general public was welcomed to the festivities, and there was something for everyone. Great food and beverages were provided by Duke’s Restaurant. The celebrants were regaled by music from Aussie John Experience, and games and dancing kept the place rocking. The good times began at 3pm and continued through the evening with the highlight of the evening being fireworks.
This year’s activities were coordinated by the Chiang Mai Expats Club, The Rotary International Club of Chiang Mai, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America (VFW) Post 12074 of Chiang Mai.
The VFW Conducted a raffle throughout the festivities with proceeds dedicated to helping the widows of Veterans of the United States Armed Forces and to providing the Thai Veterans Association of Chiang Mai Province with winter clothing and blankets.
