CityNews – A student disrupted authorities gathering to address the issue of air pollution.

On March 16th, at an official event to launch a fire fighting and haze prevention unit, a student showed up wearing an oxygen mask with a board on his back revealing his statement on the air pollution crisis. Threerapon ‘Khun Muen’ Laipradit, a first year student at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, stated that Chiang Mai has been facing particle pollution issues for weeks with no signs of reducing the problem, a problem which will have negative impacts on a massive scale, both economically and physically. He emphasised that this issue causes many illnesses, that force citizens to bear extra medical costs. He raised specific concerns regarding children, who have breathing rates faster than adults, as well as pregnant women whose children can face cognitive learning issues due to the haze.

Threerapon stressed that the authorities should take the air pollution issue seriously and try to solve the issue from the cause, not the symptom.
