Tong-in Kheunkuab, 55, called his family to tell them he was lost in the Mae Wang National Park and could not find his way home. Tong-in reportedly left home to hunt for mushrooms around 6am on October 23rd and only called home around 8pm on the same day.
Two search teams looked for Tong-in but he was nowhere to be found and the teams temporarily suspended their search at 3am this morning. The search resumed later this morning and continued until 11am, when Tong-in called his family again to say that last night’s heavy rains had prevented him from leaving the forest. He told his family that, this morning, he had taken a ride with a local villager who dropped him off at the national park office. The authorities have arranged to get him home safely.
