CityNews – A 13 year old boy has been selected among 20 students from all over the world to present his project at the annual Google Science Fair.

Hemwich ‘Hub’ Warit, a secondary school student at Varee Chiang Mai International School has been selected to compete in the final round of Google Science Fair for inventing a hearing aid inspired from his musical skills. Hub revealed his past experience when talking with hearing impaired people that they would sound very soft, low and fatigued. One day when he was practicing with his guitar without an amp, he could barely hear the sound but when he put his chin at the guitar, he could hear it clearer.

That little discovery led him to this project which is to invent a device that does not only help with hearing but also helps hearing impaired people to be able to speak. He has been consulting with an audiology expert and developed the device by testing it at the Anusarnsunthorn School for the Deaf.

Hub is the first Thai and the youngest person to make it to the 20 finalists among students from all over the world including USA, India, China, South Korea and more. The final round at Google Science Fair is scheduled on July.

Good luck Hub! We are rooting for you.
